What we strive to do

  • We promote, raise awareness, and provide financial and other support to benefit the research and treatment of brain cancer and brain tumors.
  • We participate and organize events that involve and/or encourage physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
  • We gather, receive, study and disseminate information about the diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer.
  • We assist families that are struggling with or have been affected by brain cancer in the Wisconsin area.

Why we do it

  • We do it to honor Chad Bordwell and countless others that are affected by Brain Cancer.  Click here to see Chad's story
  • We do it because there are more than 120 different types of brain tumors that impact thousands of families each year.
  • We do it because each year an estimated 210,000 people in the United States will be diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor.  An estimated 62,930 of these cases are primary malignant and non-malignant tumors with the remaining cases being brain metastases.  (Source: National Brain Tumor Society)
  • We do it because there are currently no known causes of brain tumors.  However, studies are ongoing.  Complete and accurate data on all primary brain tumors is needed to provide the foundation for investigations of its causes and research leading to improved diagnosis and treatment.
  • The Brain Tumor Research Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin continues to make strides in treatment and improving the quality of life for those afflicted by the disease.
